Craftsmanship and Precious Metals
Hallmarking exists to protect you the customer by ensuring that when something is sold as silver, gold, or platinum, it truly is what it claims to be. In the UK, this protection is backed by law under the Hallmarking Act of 1973.
By law, any item described as silver, gold, or platinum must be hallmarked by an official Assay Office, unless it falls under specific weight exemptions. For silver, that threshold is 7.78 grams.
That means many of my smaller, more delicate pieces don’t require a hallmark but rest assured, every one of them is crafted using certified 999 fine silver (that’s pure silver) and made entirely by hand in my workshop.
I don’t use factory molds or casting. Each piece is individually shaped, textured, and finished using traditional silversmithing tools and techniques giving you something truly unique.
While hallmarking isn’t required for every piece, I hallmark all silver that meets the legal weight limit — using my registered maker’s mark with the Birmingham Assay Office (Sponsor No. 013871).
